– Noche Musical Benefit –
More than 200 people enjoyed the Noche Musical event at the Noah Liff Opera Center.
The event was a benefit for the Hispanic Family Services program of Catholic Charities of Tennessee.
During the evening, Sister Mary Kay Tyrell, D.C. and the Daughters of Charity were honored with the Juan Diego Award in recognition of their longstanding and continuing support of the local Hispanic community.
Event chair Cristina Allen, co-chairs Ramon Cisneros and Mary Griffin Harden, and the committee put together a lively, memorable evening. Attendees were treated to a delicious array of tapas and postres (desserts) prepared by Karla Ruiz Catering. There was live musical entertainment by the San Rafael Band and Rachel Rodriguez and also silent and live auctions featuring trips, artwork, and jewelry.

– Crown Affair Patron Party –
The Crown Affair Patron Party was held at the home of Kim and Bob Looney in Green Hills on a beautiful evening.
Honorees of this year’s Crown Affair include Barbara and Herb Fritch, Annette Eskind, and Alexia Poe. All four honorees are being acknowledged for both their business and volunteer commitment to the Nashville community.
The Crowning Achievement Award recognizes individuals with both volunteer and business commitment to the community. The Shining Star Award, which goes to Poe, honors young community members dedicated to bettering the Nashville area.
The gorgeous floral centerpiece for the table was created of peonies, hydrangeas and roses by Cary Allyn and one of the hostesses’ family crystal punchbowls was utilized for the arrangement.
Guests included: Shirley Zeitlin, Harris Gilbert, Connie and Tom Ciggaran, Elizabeth and Will Ralph, Jan and Jim Ramsey, Laura and Brad Currie, Michael and Mindy Sontag, Hilda and Jim McGregor, Jana and Randy Parham, and Carolyn and Charles Ermey.

– Blake McMeans Promise Tour Supper –
Spring Supper benefitting the Blake McMeans Promise Tour was held at the home of Cynthia and Dave Arnholt.
Co-hosts were Tori and Dave Alexander, Christine and Elliot Kyle, Callie McMillin, Blaire and Davis Murfree, and Monty and John Steele.
Rick “Huck” Huckaby performed for the event and Kristen Winston Catering provided all kinds of treats for the buffet.
Blake McMeans, now 35, was on his way to a tennis scholarship at the University of Tennessee, when he was in a horrific drunk driving accident that nearly took his life and threatened his mental and physical health. He founded the Promise Tour and has committed his life to sharing his story.
McMeans has helped to develop awareness programs across the state with an emphasis on educating young people about the dangers of high risk drinking, impaired driving, and the challenges and special needs of persons with physical handicaps.

– Hermitage’s Young Jacksonian Society –
The Hermitage’s Young Jacksonian Society and the Young Lawyers Division got together for Brews & Burgers at Jackalope Brewery.
Guests toured the brewery, dined on stuffed burgers from Hoss’ Loaded Burgers food truck, and enjoyed a lively talk about Andrew Jackson’s law practice by James Yasko, director of education at The Hermitage.
The Young Jacksonian Society is a group of young professionals whose purpose is to identify and cultivate the next generation of leadership for The Hermitage, assist in the undertaking of projects to continue preservation of this National Historic Landmark and advance its fundraising efforts, and increase public awareness of The Hermitage. They meet several times throughout the year for events geared toward providing both a social and educational component.
The Young Lawyers Division is a group of young lawyers who are actively involved in the Nashville legal community and the community at large.

– Power of the Purse Luncheon –
Actress Ashley Judd spoke to more than 700 attendees at the 14th annual Power of the Purse Luncheon benefiting The Women’s Fund of The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee to help women and girls in need.
Judd has traveled the world for her humanitarian efforts and she spoke about issues affecting women and girls around the globe, focusing on the marginalization of women, from sexual violence and physical objectification to depriving women of opportunities for education and economic stability.
The menu included smoked chicken salad, spicy tomato cucumber salad, truffle potato chips, and key lime cupcakes from The Cupcake Collection.
At the event, held at Loews Vanderbilt Hotel and emceed by WSMV’s Demetria Kalodimos, attendees bid on dozens of purses, donated by celebrities and local retailers, in a silent auction. Celebrity bags for auction included purses from Ashley Judd, Naomi Judd, Reba McEntire, and more.

– Cause for Paws Patron Party –
Katrin Gray hosted the Nashville Humane Association’s Cause for Paws Patron Party at her lovely Belle Meade home.
The jewelry company Margo Morrison NY had set up large display cases filled with its semi-precious and pearl jewelry line. A percentage of sales of the jewelry was given to the Humane Association.
Cause for Paws is the annual fashion show fundraiser for the shelter and the clothing was provided by Jamie, which also carries the Margo Morrison jewelry.
Guests at the patron party enjoyed sampling wine, crackers and cheeses, apricot treats, cupcakes by Gigi, and chocolate dipped strawberries.
There were numerous clear vases of spring flowers including tulips, hydrangeas and other colorful blooms.
– Dancing for Safe Haven –
Dancing for Safe Haven Family Shelter was held at Loews Vanderbilt Hotel, chaired by Sharon and Mike Pigott.
Dave Roberson was the 2012 recipient of the Safe Haven Hero Award for his volunteer work with the shelter which helps homeless families with children.
This year’s volunteer dancing line-up included Sheyla Paz Hicks, Gerald McRath, Chet Parlavecchio, John Steele, Bob Tuke, Bill Vandiver, and Deborah Varallo.
The local celebrities were paired with professional dancers from Dance World.
Winners were: Parlavecchio, Judges Favorite; Varallo, Online Favorite; McGrath, Audience Favorite; and a special award went to Tuke, who raised the most money for the charity.
Emcees were Fox 17’s Kelly Sutton, and Jim Chandler and Woody Wood of 107.5 FM.
Everyone raved about the dinner which included Caesar salad, Cha Cha Chicken with mushroom ragout and onion straws, onion au gratin potatoes, and warm chocolate cobbler with vanilla ice cream.
